In an earlier post submitted by Paul Watson, you were given recommendations to help last your Satio battery longest. In another post at megamobilecontent.com i came across tips on how to take care of your battery so that you can increase its lifetime.

Here is what they suggested:

"The lifetime of the lithium ion batteries can be found in mobile phones, PDAs, UMPCs and notebook computers isn't endless. However, you can make it longer.

The ugly truth
Batteries are chemical labs and even if you use them in perfect condititons and the highest care possible, they will get worn sooner or later. They just loosing the ability to keep their power.
The more times the battery has fully recharged the more the battery get worn. Or you can say the the more time you use your device on battery the earlier the devices battery get worn.

First charge
The first charge is important for the battery and your device too. The battery has to be charged long time, 12-16 hours first time to use all the chemicals it has. Some says that the polymer batteries don't need the first big charge but specialist says it's good prctice to do it with the LiPoly batteries too. Note, that you have to wait until the battery reaches it's critical level (around 5%) before start the first big charge. The first charge also calibrates your devices power meter.

Hot and Cold
Both high and cold temperature shorten the lifetime of the battery. In real life the latter happens more often. When you are accessing broadband internet or doing something else that heats up your device, you have to keep in mind that overheated device can overheat the battery too which is very bad.

Switch Off
This applies to mobile devices. Recharging battery while the device is switched off makes recharge time shorter.

Don't Stop!
If you started to charge a battery try to don't abort the charging process. It can cause inaccurate power level indication and can decrease some batteries lifetime too.

When Neccesary
It's a good practice to keep your device on charger when you are actually using it, but not the best practice to keep it on charger when you are not. Better detach or swith off charger when you are not using your device, but only after it is fully charged."

I have had quite a few people ask if they can change the Default of 20 messages sent. Well today I will show you are to achieve this.

A simple Guide on how to change the Default settings for Messages, on a Sony Ericsson Satio U1 (Idou) Symbian S60v5

Firstly you will need to go in to Messages

Select Options

Press on Settings

Select Other

Number of saved messages can be changed.

You can save sent messages,this is set to 20 messages by default.

To change press on Number of saved msgs, and change the number.

I have changed mine to 200.

Change where the messages are saved to, this is set to the Phone memory by default.

This can be changed to memory card.

To change click on Memory in use.

Please note once you have downloaded the files to your Satio and restarted your Satio, you will not be able to go back to the Satio Home screen. If you want to get the Satio Homescreen back you will need to do a Hard Reset.
Instructions

Install HelloOX 2 Download
Enable Open4All in ROMpatcher+ - included in HELLO0X2
Copy files into place with a file manager like X-Plore.
What I did was to create a folder in the Private folder called 10205054, then another folder called Private, another folder caller Features and copied the two files into Features.
Restart Phone

OPDA have made it a lot easy for you to get your Cer and Key files. This is now done instantly.

Please watch the video for instructions, there is no voice command and I suggest you watch in Full Screen.

I will try to explain what you need to do:-

1. Go to cer.opda.cn
2. Press on the UK Flag if you speak English
3. You need to register.
4. Login Then at the Top Right Press the “Orange Apply Cer”
5. Then follow on screen instructions
6. Where it says “OPERATE”, directly below that is your cer – key just click on them to download.
7. You are able to Download a Freesigner just below step 6.

Once you have cer and key files, you will be able to sign those applications that have not been signed .
First of all you will need to get your Cer and Key files OPDA, once they are ready please download the Freesigner.
Save it to some where on your memory card. What I did was create a file called Hacking, save your Cer and Key Files into the same folder.
Next install the Freesigner, whilst installing it will say application not compatible with phone, just continue, next open Freesigner>Options>Settings>Sign Cert double click next choose memory card, then Hacking folder then select, then Sign Key double click next memory card, Hacking folder then select.
To sign an application tap Add Task then whatever drive your file is in, choose file, options add then sign sis, options, Go! ignore the other two. Now your app is signed.
You may need to restart your Satio after signing if it does not install. You will also need to set where to save your signed files, in Freesigners options.

For those of you who would like to take a look at the details in the Secret Satio Menu.

Here is how to get into the Secret Menu,

Press the call keys in the following order: red – green – red – red – green – red.

In this Secret Menu there are a number are Categories, Service Information and Service tests.

In the Service Information the sub menu consists of Model Information, Software Information, Hardware Information, Sim Locks and Configuration.

In the Service Tests the sub menu consists of Display, Camera, Video call camera, Touch screen, LED, Keys, Vibrating alert, Speakers, Microphone.

What is HelloOX2?

There are two versions to download the Signed Application and the unsigned version that you will need to sign.

To get the cert and key you will need to visit OPDA this site is in English, it usually takes less then 24 hours to get the cert and key, you can also download the software to sign applications from this site.

Are you out of the Office a lot or away from your PC, if the answer to this is Yes you need to set up your email on your Satio.

To setup follow these simple instructions, you will need a certain amount of details.

Details that need to be entered:

Email address – Password- Pop3 Settings which can be obtained from your ISP.

Step 1 Go to Messages>Settings>EmailMailboxes>Options>New mailbox enter email address, enter Account Name. Click>Next, Phone will connect to the Internet to check If settings can be Downloaded. Press Yes.

If all information is entered correctly it will ask for Username, Password and Name press Next>Connect to mailbox press YES, if all is correct it will Download your emails.

Do you find that you use your Satio a lot during the day when you are out of the Office, and you find that the Battery runs out?

You could follow a few simple steps that might extend the battery life. This might compromise your usage, but are worth trying.

Turn 3G off, to do this go to Settings> Connectivity>Network>Network Mode change to GSM

Turn Off Bluetooth, to do this go to Settings>Connectivity>Bluetooth and turn Off.

Turn WiFi scanning Off, to do this go to Settings>Connectivity>Options and turn Off.

Remember to turn off applications correctly, do not just press the Red Key, to exit an application correctly go to Options and hit exit, this will also save RAM.

Doing these few things should extend your battery life.
